What a load of rubbish!

Usually the paths around school look like ...
But this morning, (7th May), they looked like this...

These are the words that Room 3 used to describe the rubbish they saw...
yucky
angry
sad
sick
annoyed
disgusted
upset

We all knew where the rubbish should be... in the bin!

We wondered who had put the rubbish there?  These are the ideas we came up with...
#  Someone was carrying things for wonderment and aw and there was a hole in their box and stuff fell out.
#  The Seniors put it there because they are learning about rubbish, like us.
#  People who don't like Clive School put it there.
# Mr Eales put it there because he knows the classes are talking about rubbish.
#  Maybe people put it there so if you fall over the concrete won't hurt you.
#  For inquiry
#  So we know what it is like for poor people.
# Mary-lou accidentally dropped it when she was putting out the recycling.

We all decided to do the responsible thing and go and pick up the rubbish because if we just left it there...
# someone could trip on it, fall over and hurt themselves.
# The cans might cut someones foot.
# People might decide to just dump more rubbish and it will get worse.
# It might blow around and make the classes dirty.
# The cans might tumble on the road and make the car tyres flat.
# The rubbish might blow around and get into someones eyes and sting.
# The rubbish might blow to the neighbours and the animals might eat it and get sick.
# Rats and mice might come to live in the rubbish.
#The rubbish might blow onto a cars window and cause it to crash.

We know our value for this term is KINDNESS - so being a kind class we went to pick up the rubbish.
We sorted it into - recycling, rubbish and "wonderment and awe"things we can use.

Now our paths look like this...

The message is - RUBBISH SHOULD BE RE-USED, RECYCLED or PUT IN A BIN!
